Momma came for a visit

This past week has been a wonderful one. My mom came down from Canada for a visit and spent 10 days with us here in Provo. It was so nice to have her here and it just made my heart sing seeing her and Cambree together. When I was pregnant, I remember telling Ryan how excited I was for my parents to have a grandchild. I truly believe that children are a gift from God, and they can bring so much joy to a family! Cambree has done just that, and it is the sweetest thing seeing the special bond she and my mother have!

We had a jam packed 10 days full of shopping, good food and lots of laughs! We took my mom to Temple Square to see the Salt Lake temple and she was also able to go to a session of General Conference, which is a conference where leaders in our church give talks and speeches... Very inspirational!

Cambree was loving the sunshine while we were at Temple Square!

Mom was such a help around the house, and she especially loved getting Cambree all clean and ready for the day - I think Cambree may have loved it too!

We went to see one of Ryan's football games and my mom shot a pic of some of the wives. I am so grateful to have made such great friends while here in Provo!

Getting all 3 to smile at once was just too hard!

My mom and Ryan also made it out to see one of my rugby games!

My mom left on Sunday to head back to Canada. She only made it about 4 hours to Idaho Falls when she had to pull over because of a snow storm. She decided the next day that the weather was too bad to continue on, so she headed on back to Provo for visit round #2! I think that she was inspired to come back because 2 hours after she arrived at our apartment I had an accident with a knife and sliced my hand open! I was trying to separate frozen hamburgers with a knife and I slipped and stabbed myself right in my hand really deep and our kitchen floor was covered in blood. I had never seen that much blood before and I was really scared. I was so grateful that she was there and able to watch Cambree so that I could head out to the hospital!!

My favorite part of the story was that she was so flustered about my accident that she couldn't remember how to use a phone and kept on pressing the Instagram home screen and saying "I don't know how to use this! I don't know how to call Ryan!" She must have pressed the home screen 5 times until I got frustrated and walked out of the house and headed over to the neighbours, I knew that they would be sane! She finally got a hold of Ryan and apparently said, "Carly cut herself! You need to come home! She's bleeding everywhere!... And now she's run away!" Haha

I ended up getting stitches and a shot and $1000 later I was back at home, only a little worse for wear :) I am so grateful we have such wonderful friends and neighbors who were there for me in my time of need! They also came over with a pizza and coke (My fave!) and spent the evening with us - They are the best!

All in all it has been an eventful trip, and I will sure miss my momma when she goes back home!

Springtime - Through the eyes of my iphone

Don't you just love technology? I carry around this tiny little handheld device in my pocket that connects me to everyone I love. It helps me chronicle my life through videos and pictures and enables me to share it with whoever I want, wherever they are! Here's a peak into our Bevans life... Through the eyes of my iPhone photo album!

We've got a little bunny running around...

I wanted to take some pictures of Cambree for Easter this week and nothing seemed to be turning out. The lighting was all over the place... Cambree wouldn't sit still...And I was totally lost trying to change the manual settings on my camera. Anyways, here they are. I know in the end all the matters is that I have pictures of Cambree to cherish in the future!

Through most of the pictures she was pulling down her ears so she could do this!

I could just see her thinking "Okay Mom.. Stop.. This is getting embarrassing"

Photoshoot For Love Day

I bought a snazzy nice camera last year and have only used it a handful of times. I am the worst for that.. Getting into a new hobby or interest and dropping it a few months later. Attention span of a nat, I tell ya! Since Valentines Day was coming up I thought it would be fun to do a little shoot with my number 1 love bug... Cambree!

{Beware.. I have no idea how to use this snazzy nice camera of mine... I just experiment :) }

I love this little cheesy grin of hers :) Makes my day!

As well behaved as our little bug is, she is human. And eventually after over an hour she got sick of me pestering her... Except I thought her cry was so cute that I continued to take more pictures... Just a few ;)

We finished off the day with a nice warm bath to wash off all of the kisses! By then I think she was starting to think her mom is a little crazy!

Miss Domestic

Last Saturday I was feeling pretty homemaker-y and I decided to get my kitchen all in order. This post is to chronicle that yes, I can be a kick butt house wife. I have my moments.. And this was one.

Our family is the worst for being lazy when it comes to making meals, so I decided it was time for me to stock my freezer with ready to eat food. NOW.

We have been crazy over sweet potatoes lately and I have been trying to think of new ways to use them. I shredded up a few to make Sweet Potato Hash Browns to put in our freezer and use as a quick add on to eggs for breakfast!

I cooked 12 (12!!!) cups of brown rice and quinoa and put them in individual serving bags and put them in the freezer. I got the idea from Trader Joe's (LOVE that place! I have been known to force my family to drive an hour and a half to find one when we are on vacation in AZ since they don't have a ton of locations) anyways they sell individual pre-cooked brown rice bags that all you do is throw them in a pot and re heat or microwave them for 3 minutes and voila! rice is ready! (As opposed to waiting 45 + mins for brown rice to cook on the stove.. which I obviously don't have time to do seeing as I'm a stay at home with 1 baby who sleeps all the time)

I made an olive oil spritzer to replace my non stick aerosol spray can (They are filled with tons of chemicals including petroleum gas, propane, and butane... No thanks!) I got the idea from Pinterest, and yes the picture I pinned was 100x cuter than this humungo spray bottle but hey it was a dollar at the dollar store and we are on a budget my friend!

Okay so I might be turning into my mom but a HUGE pet peeve of mine is when I just get back from the grocery store and I've stocked the fridge with tons of good healthy food and Ry wanders into the kitchen and complains that there is nothing to eat (Are you kidding me!) So I decided to make a list of things we have to eat, so that I don't have to hear the phrase "There's nothing to eat" again. I've been updating it after I go grocery shopping to add/take off items but for the most part I buy the same types of things so it has worked out good!

Our Pinterest recipe of the week this week was this Vegetable Tian which I had seen pinned and repinned by everybody for months! The flavour was awesome but I wasn't sold on the recipe just because the vegetables turned out slightly mushy. The recipe can be found HERE

On a side note...

Our sweet little Cambree bug had her 2 month shots last week and after hearing everybody's horror stories I was ready for a long day of tears and a fussy baby.. But she did awesome! She cried for about 20 seconds while they were giving her the shots and then SHE FELL ASLEEP! She slept most of the day and that was that! We are so lucky to have such a good little girl.. But it kind of scares me because I worry the karma gods are going to curse me with a little devil baby next time around!

Anyways, thats all from this domestic diva!

What's up Wednesday?

These past few weeks have been good ones, I finally feel like I am starting to be productive with my time. It's a hard transition going from full time kick butt ultrasound tech to stay at home, nothing to do mommy. I guess I should be counting my blessings since I have such a great baby girl that it literally gives me NOTHING to do during the day. Here is what has been going on 'round here:

- We tried this recipe from Pinterest this week - It was a hit! Pinterest is always such a tricky thing because the pin may claim to be "the best chicken i've ever had in my life it's my great aunts recipe" or whatever - But I have had quite a few duds lately. This salad was light with a delicious flavor, even the hubs loved it! The only substitutions we made was we used fat free greek yoghurt instead of sour cream!

- I went to a Cross Fit for the first time last week.. Ohh my! I was soo sore! Our stake has Cross Fit on Tuesdays and I had only worked out twice since having Cambree (and MAYBE 5 times since getting pregnant.. yikes!) It felt so good to be pushing my body again. I sometimes forget that I am still young and athletic and capable! I have been thinking a lot about wanting to play rugby again.. And have e-mailed two different teams about wanting to join their teams and with no replies so far I am feeling like somewhat of a reject.. But I am keeping my fingers crossed!

- Dieting and losing the baby weight has felt like such an uphill battle ever since Cambree was born. I didn't gain more weight than normal (24 lbs) and I had lost all of it by Christmas break BUT... losing the weight does not mean that my body is back to normal. Sometimes I wonder if it will ever be? I am even 2 pounds lighter now than I was when I get pregnant.. but some of my clothes still don't fit! So frustrating...

- I have been the worst at keeping up with Cambree's little milestones. She is now almost 3 months old so I guess it's about time I do a little recap:

Months 1 & 2
She has the cutest little expressions when she sleeps she also like to sleep with her hands up
She gets the hiccups every night without fail
She is such a good little sleeper, she was sleeping through the night (8 hours) by 8 weeks (thank you Babywise!)
She grunts & squeaks & squeals in her sleep all night long

At around 8 weeks she really started smiling and focusing on what's going on around. She has become such a little "talker" - Ryan will sit her up on his lap and talk to her and she just coos back at him staring him right in the eye it's so cute because it looks like she's just chatting away with him!

Nicknames: Bug, Cambree Bug, Cambree Doodle Bug

She is getting so good at taking a bath! She is loving it now a days... Especially the taste of the water!

We've been taking her out on more and more walks to explore the world! She loves looking at all of the bright lights at night... We have to bundle her up pretty well though since it's still freezing outside!

I made this cute little onesie for Superbowl Sunday! I saw it on Etsy for $15 and I figured I could make it for way cheaper.. 5 bucks made me 2 onesies with lots of leftover supplies!

We finally applied for Cambree's passport! This is her passport picture taken back in December... It was hilarious trying to get a good picture because she just would not wake up or sit up!

She is starting to smile so much!!

...But she still is such a little snoozer!

And as always, she loves cuddling with her dad after a long day!

That's all for now!
